Mahjong Story 2

A layered mahjong board where the strongest pair is the one that opens future choices, not merely the first legal match.

Board scan

Open the next layer

A matching pair removes tiles, but its real value is what it exposes. Look over the free upper pieces and blocked edges before committing to an easy match.

Opening read

When duplicate symbols offer several partners, favor the pair that releases a covered row, edge, or column. Keep the more accessible copy when the other is trapped behind future work.

Tile handling

Choose only free copies

The board’s visual availability rules determine whether a tile can be selected. Covered or blocked pieces are not useful simply because their symbol matches.

Input note

Select two matching free tiles by click or tap. Hints and shuffles are separate controls; use the board scan first so a legal move does not become a dead end.

Deadlock review

Trace the choice that narrowed the board

When no pair remains, inspect the earlier duplicate choice that exposed the fewest options. The deadlock often began several moves before it became visible.

If the attempt slips

On a retry, preserve the tile with the clearer access and remove the alternative copy first. Rebuild the opening with that one change before reaching for a shuffle.

Player questions

Mahjong checks

How do I pick tiles on the board?

Pick a pair of identical pieces the board marks as available, by pressing them in turn. Both must be clickable right now, so glance at the top layer before you settle on the first match you see.

Why is a matching tile sometimes unusable?

That copy is still trapped. Until the tiles resting on it are taken away, the board keeps it locked; remove what is above first and the piece becomes usable.
